Last Remnant is a different game, the battle system can be tricky and can sometimes be hard to get used to for new players and the fast pace can get confusing so here are a few tips to get started!
Alright, starting with the world outside of battle; once you get a chance to move around in the game after the prologue you should take the time to get used to judging distances, trust me it really helps. Take the time to work out the distance between you and various objects in the town before hitting the field, standing away from something and counting 1,001 and reaching it after counting, this is about the distance of the radius in which your circle for initiating battle is and this will help keep you from getting ambushed or accidentally aggro-pulling the enemie(s). Try a higher count from further away to get more accurate (1002, 1001, or 1003, 1002, 1001 and so on until you stop at the object on or after fnishing counting). After you get this accurately enough then try it out on the field. Once you feel you got enough practice there then you're gonna wanna learn a way to spot enemies you can't see because let's face it, your camera shows one area and when you have your eyes set on an enemy that map isn't even crossing your mind! This is where a trick comes in; pay attention to sounds and pick out your characters footsteps to a monsters and such and soon enough you'll be starting battles even when enemies are lunging at you on the field. This is a bit tricky to get used to, but it worksand is even more useful with surround sound. Now don't forget your map though because enemies show up on it when they are chasing you, but also mind that the map isn't very accurate so judging distance with it is difficult. Returning to judging distance, If you can learn to judge distance from the monsters point of view rather than your own then you will be able to initiate battles effectively even when your are being charged by the enemy instead of the other way around or even from both sides. That's it for now, next Tips and tricks I'll cover battles.
